My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everyone, I'm Hamlet!
I was born in April 2010 and am your typical German Shepherd adolescent! I'm goofy, active, fun and very handsome if I do say so myself. But wouldn't you agree?
I enjoy playing with other dogs, especially medium and large females. I haven't been around many children and would prefer older children and a family experienced with big dogs. German Shepherd or other large, working breed experience would be great!
I'm cratetrained and mostly housetrained- rare accidents but sometimes I just can't hold it any longer!
I came to Happy Dogs from a puppy mill and arrived as a terrified and starving 6 month old puppy. I weighed less than 40 lbs and should have been much more. I had a noticable head tilt- the breeder said an employee had hit me in the head with a shovel. The vet said the tilt is due to muscle damage in my neck and there is no neurological damage. The muscles have strengthened and the tilt is not noticable unless you are looking for it. I've come along way since then! I'm still shy in public with lots of people I don't know but I'm very social in familiar environments where I feel safe! I warm up quickly to new people (especially if they take me for a walk) when I'm not overwhelmed with too many to meet at once.
I might take a little longer to adjust to the noises and activities normal to your house but I will learn, and as a smart boy, I'll probably learn fast but understand that I missed out on learning such things as a puppy and they may scare me at first.

Hamlet is neutered, fully vaccinated (including bordetella and canine influenza), microchipped, de-wormed, fecal checked negative, heartworm tested negative, kept on monthly heartworm prevention and given seasonal flea/tick prevention.
His adoption fee is 250.
Hamlet is available in the Kansas City and surrounding areas of NW Missouri and Eastern Kansas. A fully fenced yard is required or an approved alternative for safe outdoor time. If you do not have a fence, please outline your plan for outdoor time in your initial email.
