Here's what the humans have to say about me:
fostering in Watertown area of NY:
Maci is a 4 1/2 year old female blue Weimaraner. She was originally owned by a young couple who did not take time to train or exercise her. They gave her to her parents who already had a male weimaraner given to them by their son, who had changed jobs and was now traveling. Due to health problems on their part, she was eventually turned into rescue.
This year she has been kenneled off and on for about 5 months. The gal who owns the facility has done some basic training with her...sit, come..wait..
Maci has been in her foster home for about a month and her personality is emerging more and more every day. She loves people, and is a fun and happy girl. She will make someone an excellent companion, is very trainable, and loves to retrieve and play with squeaky toys. She is also crate trained.. She sleeps in her crate at night and periods during the day.
She gets alone very well with our maie weimaraners, but not with our girls. Outside she seems to be fine with other dogs. I think she would do best in a home with no dogs, or just a male dog companion. I believe she would be fine with children, but do not know about cats.
She and the dog that she lived with did not have a fenced in yard. They did run and were caught by the dog warden. I believe she would do best with a fenced in yard. She has a large fenced in yard here and loves running with the other dogs and spending time investigating outside. She also loves her daily runs on our trails out back. With all of this exercise, she is a calm girl in the household. This exercise would need to be continued on a daily basic. The saying goes...A tired Weimaraner is a happy weimaraner....and so aren't their owners. She also loves going for rides in the car.
Her main issues are counter surfing, jumping up on people, and pulling on her lead when being walked. These concerns are all being worked on in her foster home.
I know that she will make someone a wonderful pet/companion/family member. Please think about letting your home be her forever home.
Spayed, all shots up to date.
