My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please help Simon. Simon will be Put to Sleep on Tuesday; March 13....we need to save this boy...the manager of the shelter asks for your assistance in Saving Simon.

He is an amazing and unique dog. He has some pit bull in him, but we also suspect he has a large amount of catahoula based on his neat mottled red markings, lanky body and special character traits common to catahoulas. Simon has been at the shelter where I am a manager for almost 6 months. He came in as a stray with his brother who was euthanized after failing his temperament evaluation. Simon adjusted well at first, but from the beginning, he has always been very "enthusiastic" about his greetings with people. This began to worry the staff as he was inadvertently knocking down potential adopters with his big happy self...

I began working with him because he reminded me of my dog, Buddy, a misunderstood exuberant young lanky boy who was just a bit too happy to see people. Although I am not a professional trainer by any means I have given him the best I have in terms of providing leadership, discipline and obedience. He has responded well to my guidance. I make sure he gets out every day with a little girl dog named Jorja who runs laps with him around the play yard and wears him out.

Mister Simon has recently become very stressed in the kennel. His stress has been revealed through barking and jumping at people who walk by his kennel. Although he has done nothing to exhibit any kind of agression at all, he does not represent a safe candidate for adoption with the excitement he is showing. He was recently moved out of the adoption area. Our shelter is blessed to have a behavior department and they have been assessing him by taking him to classes and testing him in situations. The basic prognosis is that he needs to be out of here. He needs consistent excersise, training and guidance, not just for the 1 hour I can provide him every day.

He is a strong crazy boy and likes to play rough with other dogs and has a blast. (He has not been tested around cats.) He has tons of "fans" around the shelter who are really pulling for him. Please help me give him a chance.

This amazing boy has literally until Tuesday 3/13 to find a home or a foster or he will be euthanized. Please please ask me anything. Please please cross post.
TRANSPORT IS AVAILABLE. I AM WILLING AND ABLE TO DRIVE HIM ANYWHERE.

Thank you at least for reading this. Thank you ALL for all you do.
