My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am gentle and sweet and will either sit next to you for company or quietly entertain myself with a bone or by hanging out on a dog bed. I am not exactly a couch potato because I DO have my lively moments, but overall I am very low maintenance and easy to have around. For most of my life, I lived with a family who took wonderful care of me, but their new baby got really sick from the dogs in the house, so my previous owners very unhappily asked BREW to find me a new a home.

Even though I am nice to everyone I meet and well behaved wherever I go, I am really a homebody. At home I am happy and confident and independent, but I get pretty nervous at new places away from home. I am hoping that my new family understands that I would rather stay home than go out and socialize, but I am SO well behaved in the house by myself that I won’t mind at all if they want to go somewhere without me.

I am house trained and do well in a fenced yard or on walks. However, I sometimes have an accident when people are gone all day for work, so my perfect family would be one where I can go out at least part way through the work day for a potty break.

My biggest weakness is food….any kind and anywhere. If I can see it, smell it, or think it, I will try to make it mine! I will also sing for my supper, literally! I will sing “Aroooooooo” over and over while my food is getting ready (or any other time I am very excited), but my voice is very soft and light compared to normal big beagle bays. Foster Mom laughs and sometimes even sings along with me!

I have lived with all kinds of other dogs and I get along fine with all of them! I am not really interested in playing with them, except for maybe once in a while if they really insist. But NO kitties in my new house please - even though I never chase squirrels or make a fuss about bunnies, the kitties in my foster home truly fascinate me. I like to arooooo at them and then climb on them and sniff them ALL over. I am not being mean at all, but kitties smell so much like cat food and other smelly stuff that I can’t think straight.

I am very friendly and gentle, and I do very well with children! I am also spayed, up to date on all my vaccines and heartworm medicine, and healthy overall. If I sound like the beagle girl you have been looking for just let the BREW crew know.

Love, Phoebe
