Misty & Midnight's Story...
Misty (blue) and Midnight (black) are sisters who ended up in Powhatan shelter as tiny kittens, and they pretty much spent the first year of their life there. Misty is a little more shy than Midnight, and her favorite thing is rolling around on the top shelf of her carpeted climber. Midnight is totally outgoing and clingy, but she can also be a bully with other cats, so this pair would do best as your only pets unless your other cat(s) can put Midnight in her place! These girls are playful, curious, active and tidy, with beautiful, plush coats and no health issues. They don't "show" very well at Petco, though, since Misty is scared of all the lights, noise and loud music, and Midnight HATES being in a cage so huffs and puffs and swats the whole time she's on display! But trust us, at home they're perfect ladies (in a tomboy sort of way!)

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Misty & Midnight, a Chesapeake Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chesapeake, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chesapeake.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chesapeake already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chesapeake breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chesapeake paves the way for another one to be saved.
