Sarge's Story...
Meet Sarge. He is estimated to be 2-3 years of age golden boy. He was dumped at a high kill shelter in Alabama and they asked us for help! We came a running! And wow, what a sweet, sweet special boy we got too! He is about 55 pounds, playful and apparently has a liking for stuffed toys that resemble himself. He appears to be good with other dogs, but it too interested in cats. He is a lovable boy that wiggles with excitement (with toy in mouth) when people all around. He is such a sweet boy! If you are interested in adopting Sarge please visit our website to fill out an application at www.adoptagoldenknoxville.org

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sarge, a Portland Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Portland, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
