Henry-Adoption Pending's Story...
Posted November 14th...Hi! My name is Henry and I am a very sweet, handsome, 60 pound Chocolate Lab. The vet thinks I am around 3 years old. I am a very happy, loving boy. I love to play fetch, but some times I forget to bring the ball back and he will just lay down and chew on it. I love to chase squirrels and rabbits, and wrestle and play with my foster sister. I love anything with a squeaker, and I will explore if there is something worth investigating.I love other dogs and children (haven't been around cats). I am very smart and know many basic commands like sit, shake, jump up, down, and stay. My favorite thing to do is sit at your feet and be pet.

The foster mom says Henry is a very, very sweet boy. He loves to be pet and touched, and he will make a wonderful companion and family pet. Henry is crate trained (once he gets use to a new crate he will go in nicely and settles down instantly), she has not observed any food, toy treat or bone aggression. Like all labs though, Henry is a tough chewer. He has done well with Nylabones and antlers. The foster mom says Henry hasn't attempted to chew on anything other than dog toys. He responds very well to a squirt bottle, but not so well to vebal reprimands. Henry is housebroken, and he doesn’t mark in the house. The foster mom said he doesn’t even mark in the yard anymore. He may do some marking initially, but it shouldn’t last long. Henry loves to go for walks and he does pretty well on a leash…but could use more work.

Henry is being fostered in a home in Plano which is where you would go to meet him if your application is approved. If you have a fenced in yard it will need to be a secure fence with no breaks or holes because Henry likes to chase squirrels and may find his may through the break or hole. Henry would love a family that will play with him, love him and take him for walks.

Henry, was rescued at the 11th hour from a high kill shelter in Southern Illinois. We are so happy we were able to pull this sweet boy as he has so much life and love to give. He was covere in fleas when he arrived. This poor guy came from a place where are not let out often and between being bored and his flea bites, Henry came into the rescue with several Lick granulomas, which have healed very nicely. He still licks himself sometimes and will still need supervision until the habit is broken. He attends Central Bark Doggie Daycare a couple times a week, you can look them up on facebook and probably see Henry in the videos.

If you would like to meet this very cute puppy, please go to the website to download an adoption application. Please be sure your application is complete, or email and we would be happy to send you an application. An application is required prior to meeting this handsome young pooch.

Please note that we are a foster based rescue and do not have a facility, which means all of our animals are cared for in homes of wonderful people who have volunteered their time to help save them.

The adoption fee of $250.00 includes: His neutering which is already done, microchipped, bordetalla vaccination for kennel couch, rabies vaccinated, up to date for Distemper-Adenovirus-Parainfluenza-Parvo-Lepto vaccination, fecal tested, dewormed with Panacur and droncit, treated with flea preventative and heartworm preventative while in our care, Martingale Collar and Double Handle Leash. You will also receive a free office visit to Crest Hill Cat and Dog Clinic, Yorkville Animal Hospital or Wheaton Animal Hospital, a training dvd, and tons of coupons for Petco.

The adoption also comes with a free puppy class through Flydogs located at Central Bark Doggie Daycare in Oswego, which introduces you to housebreaking, name recognition, crate training, sit/stay and leash walking. This is one free class you really don't want to miss. Henry qualifies for pets for patriots partner, and if you are or were in the military, please feel free to email us for information about this program.

Thank you for looking at our rescued animals and wanting to give them a wonderful home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Henry-Adoption Pending, a Naperville Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Naperville, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Naperville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Naperville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Naperville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Naperville paves the way for another one to be saved.
