My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Four year old Lisa is truly a lovely standard size dachshund with the classic wirehair face.

Lisa was purchased by a retired couple with fond memories of the sweet easy doxie they had before they had children. Unfortunately, when they bought Lisa, they were convinced to also get her brother, Bart.. These people did not know about litter mate syndrome and were unprepared for how much harder it was to raise two dogs. They also didn’t realize how much “attitude” most dachshunds have and how difficult it can be to train even one doxie. Soon Lisa and brother formed their own little pack and quickly began running the house. Knowing that they are never going to be the kind of owners stubborn doxies need, rescue was asked to rehome Lisa and her brother.

Lisa is friendly but she takes a little bit to warm up to people. She will eye you suspiciously for awhile but like any good doxie, she can be won over with treats. She enjoys sitting on laps and having cuddle time. Lisa is not as exuberant as her brother and is far more willing to hold still for pictures.

Because Lisa has never been an only dog, we think Lisa would do best with a well behaved canine brother as well as an owner who knows how to be the alpha dog in the family. She would benefit from daily exercise and getting out and about to new places.

21 lb Lisa is crate trained and knows how to use a doggie door. She has AKC paperwork , is spayed and current on her vaccinations.
