My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Simone has returned. The family who adopted her loved her – Simone was a great friend and playmate to their other dog and she was a sweet and affectionate dog with her humans. The problem was when she went to the dog park or walking/hiking on nature trails, her prey drive kicked in. She would chase and try to catch small dogs – not all but some. At the Centre, Simone is very good with all the dogs, large and small (one of her best buddies is Jappy!); however, in an open environment, it is possible that her Northern roots re-emerge. Sadly and reluctantly, the family knew that their home was not the right one for Simone. There was no lack of love for or devotion to Simone while she was with them. So, Simone still waits for her “happily ever after”.

“Me, me, me! Pick me!” That would be what Simone would say if she could express herself. Whatever her life was like in the Northern Community from which she came, she is none the worse for wear. Like many of the Northern Dogs, she has a “joie de vivre”. Simone looks like a Lab mix, but a short Lab. She definitely acts like a Lab, all the time. This means she’s all excitement, all energy and all loving, if you’re game. As with most of her buddies from the North, she LOVES balls and will retrieve for as long as her human is willing to throw the ball. In fact, she is discovering that all toys are fun and will stockpile them in her crate. Her first walks on leash confirmed that all that energy could be put to good use in obedience training classes. Simone so wants to please that she will be a super student. She’s a happy, energetic girl who gets along with other dogs. Life is good for Simone; all that is missing is a forever friend and home in her life. Can you give Simone her “happily ever after”? Please fill in the adoption form if you feel Simone is the girl for you.

Update - May 2012: Hey, Simone here. Actually I’ve been here—at the Animatch Centre—since mid-November. When I left the Northern Community, I was promised a better life. In some ways, it has improved—I have good food, a warm bed, and of course lots of toys. But, I was also promised a furever home—and no one has come through for me on that one. I am still homeless! I, along with many other Northern dogs, arrived surrounded by a lot of hoopla about how wonderful it was that we were all on our way to a better life. There are still many roaming, homeless dogs left in my community but how can Animatch save more when there is no one to adopt the ones that were rescued six months ago. I absolutely love people and I get along with dogs when properly introduced. I do have a high prey drive so no cats or small animals for me. I promise to keep my backyard a squirrel free zone. Please, just give me a chance.
