My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

9/22 - New Pics!

March 15, 2007 - Meet Taz! Taz is a happy go lucky, full of energy, 2 1/2 year old male GSD. He was surrendered to the shelter by his owners because they could not handle him. Taz is not any harder to handle than any young GSD. He is large and strong and wants to pull you around on leash. But he responds well to correction and will do exceptionally well with a strong leader. He really wants to please; was just never taught what 's expeced of him.

Taz gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home, although he does have a bit of an alpha streak that would prevent him from being compatable with an alpha male. He did not do well with a cat test, so will need a home without any resident felines. He loves to play ball, and is a big 'talker.' He's always got something to say!

Taz is utd on routine vaccinations, flea/tick prevention and heartworm prevention. He has been microchipped, and will be neutered in the next couple of days. He has not had any accidents in the house, so does appear to be housetrained.

Please Click Here to fill out an application. This is the first step in our adoption process. No adoption will be considered or discussed until this has been completed and received.

Taz must go to an indoor home where he will be an important part of the family. We do not adopt to anyone under the age of 21.

Note: Mid-South Shepherd Rescue is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We do not have a shelter location. Our dogs are kept in foster homes as part of a family, to help prepare them for transition into their forever homes. If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please contact us by clicking on the email address to your right. We will be glad to make arrangements for a meeting.

WHY do we rescue? CLICK HERE to find out!

As of November 29, 2007, the balance on our vet bill is $5,534.62. This is JUST our primary vet bill, and does not include other daily expenses, as well as additional medical bills for some of our dogs who need to see specialists (for example, orthopedic surgeries). These costs are mounting daily, as we are always testing, spaying/neutering and heartworm treating new dogs as they come into rescue. Our adoption fee of $250 is the ONLY funding source we have, and it doesn't go very far when some of our rescues have bills of $1000+. Please help us continue to help them. Tax deductible donations an be made by clicking the following link, or by snail mail to:
MSSR, P.O. Box 542, Nesbit, MS 38651. NO amount is too small. If you think you can't make a difference, think again!
