Trixie's Story...
Trixie is a 1 1/2 year old, 12 1/2 pound, black and white, chihuahua/French bulldog mix - pretty exotic! She was born approximately on August 4, 2006.She will be spayed when we take out the pin in her leg. She was badly injured but the vet was able to save her leg after extensive treatment. Animal Control rescued her from the road, apparently hit by a car. The fractured leg must have been painful but nothing compared to her leg being "de-gloved". Her skin was torn off, similar to a burn victim. Considering all of the pain she has endured, she is a very sweet dog. She is very friendly, loves kids and loves to play with toys. She likes her belly rubbed and playing with other dogs. She enjoys water and giving kisses. She is housebroken. She likes women and children but it takes a little time for her to get to know men. She acknowledges cats, sniffs them, barks once and walks away. She is such a strong dog to go through the pain of having to have her bandage changed daily for two weeks. One of the vet's staff volunteered to foster Trixie to facilitate all the bandage changes. This dog cannot be adopted out of state. Please see our home page for a list of our Saturday adoption sites. Every potential adopter is required to fill out an adoption application and the dog is placed in the home that would be most suitable for the dog. Generally we don't release the dogs at the adoption site that day except on occasion to former adopters. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please call Penny Adams at 619-466-0426.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Trixie, a Spring Valley Chihuahua/French Bulldog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/French Bulldog for sale in Spring Valley, or seeking a Chihuahua/French Bulldog dog from a breeder in Spring Valley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Spring Valley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Spring Valley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/French Bulldog breeders who help with Chihuahua/French Bulldog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Spring Valley paves the way for another one to be saved.
