I am in need of an experienced adopter.

Jett's Story...
Jett is a 3 year old mammoth donkey who arrived to H.O.R.S,E. of CT in the summer of 2011. She has been ridden by children and will soon be ridden by small adults. She needs an experienced horse or donkey person to finish her training. Jett has a huge personality, loves attention, stands great to groom, and enjoys going for walks down the street and on the trails. Jett gets along great with all horses who like donkeys and would make an excellent companion or trail donkey.

HORSE of Connecticut adopts horses to Connecticut, eastern New York, western Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Horses adopted from HORSE of Connecticut may not be used for breeding, showing (including 4-H and other youth groups), jumping, or lesson programs. Please see our website, www.horseofct.org, for full details on the adoption process.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jett, a Washington Donkey/Mule/Burro/Hinny was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Donkey/Mule/Burro/Hinny for sale in Washington, or seeking a Donkey/Mule/Burro/Hinny from a breeder in Washington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Washington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Washington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Donkey/Mule/Burro/Hinny breeders who help with Donkey/Mule/Burro/Hinny rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Washington paves the way for another one to be saved.
