My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a very dedicated transporter who is always on the lookout for doxies who time is about up in shelters. She noticed this guy and since she was going to his shelter to get another dog, she asked us to save him. He arrived cool, calm and collected in the midst of chaos of new dog arrivals. We knew then we had a real treasure.

10 lb Augie is a dream dog. He is a “mostly” dachshund and probably has a bit of chi in him. We have found that this makes for some very cuddly dogs and Augie is no exception. He is a real snuggle bunny. The 21 yr old in the foster home took one look at all the new dogs and instantly recognized what a great dog Augie was and scooped him up to be her special boy. As a result, two year old Augie is especially fond of young girls.

Augie arrived with a “cherry eye” which is a prolapsed inner eyelid. He promptly had surgery for it and is doing great. If you look at his pictures, taken 7 days after his surgery, you will see there is still a little bit of swelling in his left eye. This will soon be totally gone. Even while wearing a protective cone, Augie plays and romps with the young dogs in his foster home. He is always up for a game of tug or running circles around the yard.

Augie has very nice manners with new people (Hi friends!) and we think he would be ok with respectful children age 8 and up. Augie is great with other dogs and would enjoy a canine companion.

Augie is crate trained, micro chipped, neutered and current on his vaccinations
