COAL's Story...
COAL - ID#A022075 Coal is my name and playing is my game. They tell me that I have it all: I’m handsome, affectionate and playful. I’m a year old and have lots of energy. One of my favorite things is chasing after the laser toy. As you can see, I have a beautiful long coat and I like being brushed; if you adopt me, I hope you’ll brush me every day. I like other cats, but can be kind of domineering (sometimes I beat up on my suite-mate,) so might be best as an only cat. I was abandoned in a not-so-safe place, and my very kind rescuers have already paid my adoption fee to assure I get into my forever home quicker. So you can have me for free, but my value is very high! I have been at the shelter since Nov 19, 2011.. I have been at the shelter since Nov 19, 2011.

STARTING THE ADOPTION PROCESS:
You need to be 18 years or older, complete an application http://www.petprojectfoundation.org/catadoption.pdf, and be interviewed. It is strongly recommended that all members of your household interact with the cat to make the best match for everyone, and that the cat you wish to adopt will be an indoor cat. You must be able to verify with your landlord that you may have a pet if you are renting. We reserve the right to deny the adoption of any pet for any reason. Also any additional requirements for the specific pet you are interested in adopting needs to be met. We adopt to the best home, not necessarily the first application turned in.

Applications are only accepted by FAX (949-366-4765), mail or in person. Sorry, no applications through the Internet. The adoption fee for cats is $100, which covers the following: spay or neuter, microchip, current shots, flea treatment if required, "New Owner" folder packed with helpful information, and one free basic health examination within 5 days of adoption from a veterinarian on our list.

Please call 949-595-8899 to check if your desired pet is still available or for the status of your application. Shelter Hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Sunday: Noon - 3:00 PM. We are CLOSED Mondays. We are very proud of our shelter, it is clean, welcoming, freeway close, and was voted "Best Place to Adopt" by the Orange Coast Magazine!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

COAL, a San Clemente Domestic Longhair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Longhair for sale in San Clemente, or seeking a Domestic Longhair cat from a breeder in San Clemente.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Clemente already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Clemente breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Longhair breeders who help with Domestic Longhair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Clemente paves the way for another one to be saved.
