Xica (Chica)'s Story...
Xica (pronounced Chica) is a 7 year old spayed black lab and border collie mix who came to the shelter as a relinquishment. She is a gentle and somewhat timid girl who blossoms into a bouncing happy pup in the exercise yard at play time. She enjoys chasing balls and such immensely. We were told, by her past owners, that Xica has been around other dogs, children 6 and older and cats. Xica walks on lead but is still working on her commands and manners. Xica likes to be close to people and rest with her head in a lap waiting to be stroked. We're sure with some patience and love she would make a great pal for an individual or family. We think she'd look really cute wearing a big red bow for Christmas. Xica appears housebroken and behaves nicely in her kennel. Xica is available to meet now and can go home December 7th after 6pm.a href="http://www.meridianvalleyhumanesociety.com/pre-adopt-questionnaire.rtf" target="blank">If you want to apply for this dog click here.
You can then email the application to the Meridian Animal Shelter.

All applications will be considered and the adoption coordinator will call the person chosen to adopt the dog after the available date.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Xica (Chica), a Meridian Border Collie/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie/Labrador Retriever for sale in Meridian, or seeking a Border Collie/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Meridian.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Meridian already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Meridian breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Border Collie/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Meridian paves the way for another one to be saved.
