My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Melody! I am only about two years old, but already I've had a tough life. I was abandoned this summer and gave birth to kittens on a nice lady's doorstep. She took me in and contacted ARCF, who got me into a comfy foster home where I could look after my kittens, but shortly after that I got sick and had to have emergency surgery. Luckily I came out of it well and was able to take even better care of my kittens afterward.

Now that my babies have all left the nest and found their own homes, I'm learning to be a young single gal again. I've rediscovered my love of play. Although my absolute favorite toy is Da Bird (you should see how high I can leap when I'm chasing it!), I'm discovering new ways to play every day. Now that I'm not being a responsible mommy, I like eating, sleeping, playing, and visiting with people whenever I like.

I'm also learning all about pets and belly rubs and cuddles, and how nice people can be. I like to sit next to my foster mom for lots of pets and scratches, and don't even mind when she trims my nails. I'm getting more used to cuddles and discovered that I like to sit in laps. In fact, my foster mom sometimes takes naps with me and I have recently decided that I like to sleep on the bed and cuddle with her - what a warm, cozy treat!

Even though I have lots of energy, I'm very well-mannered and grown up. I keep myself awfully clean and always use my litter box. I'm even-tempered and never use my teeth or claws. I get along pretty well with my foster brother and sister after my foster mom gave us a nice slow introduction to each other, so I would be fine being an only cat or joining a family with another cat to be my buddy.

Melody, like all ARCF cats for adoption, has been spayed, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIV.

If you are interested in meeting Melody, please fill out the "I'm interested" form at our website, and our adoption coordinator will respond promptly. Please note that we place cats in the following counties only: Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas and Clark.

Animal Rescue & Care Fund, Inc. is a small rescue organization. We rescue homeless animals only, and do not accept owner-surrendered pets.
