I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, not good with dogs, and not good with cats.

Chief's Story...
Meet Chief. He was a stray brought to a rural Tennessee shelter. Chief is a LOVE MUFFIN - he just wants to be petted and loves belly rubs. He is about 4 years of age, rather large - weighing 85 pounds which is where he got his name. He does not like cats and would be better as an only dog - king of the household!. If you are interested in adopting Chief, please go to our website at www.adoptagoldenknoxville.org and fill out an application

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chief, a Salem Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Salem, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
