Baby HOUSEBROKEN's Story...
Birthdate: 12/1/10

Gender: Female, spayed

Breed: Black Lab/Basset Hound mix

Brrrrr.. the nights may be getting chilly as we head into winter, but Baby’s foster mom never has to be worried about cold winter nights because she has the very best living heating pad there is.. Baby! Every night, she is more than happy to climb into bed and snuggle up to her foster mom, filled with gratitude for saving her.

Rain was pouring own when Baby was found just a few short weeks ago. She was soaked to the skin as she headed towards the woods in New Middletown along with her smaller traveling companion, a little Puggle.

They were just bout to disappear into the trees when Baby’s rescuer spotted them and called out. Baby immediately whirled around and came running to the sound of a friendly voice, but the Puggle turned tail and raced into the woods. Although they searched, Baby’s friend was never found again.

But Baby is so grateful for her rescue, and she shows it to her foster family every day. She loves to play with their young human son, gently taking treats from his hand even though she outweighs him. She’s obviously been around children before and knows how to act around them.

Baby also enjoys playing with other dogs.. and when she met her very first cat at the shelter, it was love at first sight, or sniff rather. She’s simply a happy-go-lucky girl.

We believe Baby is a Black Lab/Basset Hound mix. Although she has the body and head of a black lab, you’ll be amazed by how low to the ground she is. It actually gives her the appearance of being much smaller than she actually is. At a year old, she tips the scales at 70 pounds of roly-poly love.

Baby is fully housebroken, and her foster family is working on obedience training with her while she waits for her forever family. She has almost mastered “Sit” and would love to learn more. She just needs a little incentive, and treats certainly do the trick. She loves treats.

This beautiful girl is currently in foster care, but she would love to meet you. Please call 330–397–8270 to schedule an appt to meet Baby in person. She has already been spayed, heartworm tested (negative) and is on preventative, fully vaccinated, dewormed and flea treated, so she is ready to join your family right away.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Struthers already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Struthers breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Struthers paves the way for another one to be saved.
