“LUCY”
Quaker Parrot
Fostered by Michele of Boca Raton, FL
Hi my name is “LUCY” I’m between 5 and 6 years old, best guess by the vet. My foster moms say I’m a sweetheart. I’ll laugh and chuckle right along with you and I love to watch cartoon or any TV, the housewives series keeps me mumbling and talking all afternoon (See everyone is a critic). It seems I spent most of my time in my cage before I came in to rescue and didn’t get out at all so I’m very leery about leaving it now. Like most Quaker’s I can be cage aggressive but will nudge your hand away instead of a bite. I will come out and sit for awhile if you pretend not to see me and if you can get me off the cage I love to sit on your shoulder and will step up very nicely. As you can see I have plucked almost all of my chest and under wing feathers. The Doctor thinks most of these are permanent and will not grow back (but we all know bald is beautiful!) I’m learning about fruits and veggies and foster mom is trying to change my seed diet to pellets. She thinks that once I get past my shyness I’ll be a wonderful forever friend!!
Rescue Group Info...
Florida Parrot Rescue is dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of companion parrots. We strive to educate parrot owners on proper handling and care of parrots. Should someone be unable to keep their bird(s) for ANY reason, we want them to know there is a place to turn, and that they are not alone. It is our goal to provide a safe haven for birds that cannot stay with their owners or birds in need, and then to find those birds permanent forever homes with loving and responsible families.
Our rescues are located in homes through out the state. We will work with the fosters and potential adopters to set up dates and times.
We require an application which is free of charge, an adoption fee which varies on the bird you wish to adopt. We do NOT adopt our for breeding purposes.
