Dreyfus's Story...
Dreyfus is looking for a foster home. Can you help?
Dreyfus is a 2 year old (on Thanksgiving day) handsome harlequin male with natural ears. He was adopted a year ago and returned due to financial difficulties. Although in his previous home he had play dates with dogs from a Maltese to a Great Dane Mix, it has been discovered that he has food aggression and resource guarding of toys from the other Great Dane in residence. So he will need to be the only dog in his home unless the adopter is experienced with this behavior and can be extremely diligent in watching him. Dreyfus lived in a resort town which is very busy in the summer and he meets people and other animals well when on walks. He will bark when someone comes to the door and tends to jump but quiets down and waits for pets in a few minutes. Dreyfus lived with an 8 year old boy who had friends in and out of the house visiting. He has met a 1 1/2 year old boy who is used to Great Danes and did well, allowing him to pet him on the nose and following him around. He has also met two cats. He sniffed and walked away from the quiet cat and was afraid of the cat who hissed at him, so we feel he could reside with a cat. Dreyfus was not crated in his previous home and got into some things as he was being left long hours when his owner had to take a second job. However, he has acclimated extremely well to a crate and willingly goes in knowing that a Kong or hoof filled with peanut butter is waiting for him. Dreyfus LOVES water. He liked to swim in the ocean and bay in his old home and should be a dream to bathe as he tries to get into the shower. He likes to drink running water from faucets, also. Dreyfus is a sloppy drinker - he puts his whole face into the task and "bites" at the water. Dreyfus is a sweetheart who loves to cuddle. He listens very well - stops or gets away from something when he is told. Dreyfus also likes to sit in your lap and get his loving or lay beside you and rest his head in your lap.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dreyfus, a Hanover Great Dane dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Dane for sale in Hanover, or seeking a Great Dane dog from a breeder in Hanover.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hanover already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hanover breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Dane breeders who help with Great Dane rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hanover paves the way for another one to be saved.
