My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

9/8/12 - I'VE BEEN ADOPTED!

Adoption Fee: $275

Fostered in Louisiana

Age: 8 years

Weight: 9 lbs.

7/24/12 - Sammie is such a great little guy who is easy to fall in love with. He is fine with small dogs, large dogs, seems intrigued by respectful and not too rambunctious children. He loves to sit and watch tv with you and has to sleep by your head on your pillow. Sammie would do fine as an only pet or with others. Since he had bladder stone surgery at the beginning of this year, the vet has him on a special diet to prevent any new stones from coming back. He is a healthy eater and has a great personality.

12/7/11 - The reason I’m in rescue was on the news. My mom was killed in our home by someone very close to her who then turned the gun on himself. I sat in the home for approximately 2 days following this incident until someone came looking for mom. Unfortunately, no one in the family wanted me and I ended up at the local animal control. So there I was, scared, lonely, missing my mom and praying that I was not meant to die at this shelter. Well, one of mom’s co-workers found out about me and she set out to spring me from jail because she couldn’t bear the thought of me there. She had enough pups of her own and didn’t need another permanent one, so she reached out to rescue for help. Yorkie Haven had an available foster home nearby and agreed to take me in.

I truly miss my mom and I hope she knows how much I loved her, but thank goodness for people that do rescue, or I was sure to die there in the shelter on that cold, concrete floor. I’m still alive, and every night before I go to sleep, I tell my mom how much I love her and ask her for her prayers in helping Yorkie Haven find me another permanent home where someone will love me like she did and treat me right.

I have to admit, my foster home is great, but I need something more permanent. I love playing with my fur foster siblings, but if given the choice between them and my humans, I will choose my human – dad or mom, it doesn’t matter, just really fond of the two-leggers and just long for (uh, demand) attention. I love to give kisses, sit in your lap, be petted (when you stop petting me, I nudge your hand to continue), love to be talked to and play with toys. Ok, maybe I’m a little too fond of my toys because I kind of guard them and growl if anyone tries to take them. Foster dad is working on this with me. For this reason, I cannot be adopted to a home with small children. I am doing great on my potty training, sleep well at night and am just an all around great catch. I knew that, but since I can’t speak, who can I tell?

I am neutered, am up to date on shots, had blood work done, tested negative for heartworms and had a dental and am the proud owner of 12 pearly whites. This truly isn’t a problem for me if you don’t have an issue with it. I am able to eat small bites and my great foster parents mix in a little soft food for flavor and ease. Just a few days ago, foster mom and dad noticed some blood in my urine, so brought me back to the vet and we found out that I have 1 large bladder stone the size of a grape. Now a grape might not sound large to you, but I’m only 9 lbs. and I can tell you, it doesn’t feel great. I will be having surgery very soon to have it removed, so please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

After all I’ve been through lately and with this upcoming surgery, you would expect me to have a much worse attitude, but I’m a very positive guy and know that God is looking out for me and will find me the best home ever. Until then, I’ll just have to shower foster mom and dad with kisses. So let me know if you are looking for a pot of gold, because I’m it!
