Maggie's Story...
Maggie is a very friendly 5 year old female Great Pyrenees! She came into our Rescue from a shelter, and was turned into the shelter after her owner lost their home. She loves people and just can't get enough attention. Maggie is with a foster family currently, and she gets along fine with Farley, their male great pyr, and so far seem completely oblivious to the cat. Maggie is very calm and lower in energy, although she does like her walks. She is full-figured at 122lbs and her foster family has her on a diet. Maggie also walks 1.5-2.5 miles most days. She is also on low cost thyroid medication to see if that helps her to lose weight.

Maggie loves to spend her spare time curled up on the couch preferably-next to you so you can pet her. Maggie is definitely an inside dog as she clearly prefers that, and she will bark a little to let you know she didn't want to go out or that she wants back in. She is outside during the day when her foster family is out, but spends nights inside sleeping on the couch. Maggie has wonderful house manners and is completely house trained. She did have a rather poor haircut prior to coming into Rescue, but her fur is growing out and she is nice and clean.

Secure visible fencing, an adoption application, site visit and adoption fee are required to adopt Maggie.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maggie, a Minneapolis Great Pyrenees dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Pyrenees for sale in Minneapolis, or seeking a Great Pyrenees dog from a breeder in Minneapolis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Minneapolis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Minneapolis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Pyrenees breeders who help with Great Pyrenees rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Minneapolis paves the way for another one to be saved.
