My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bud is a 5 month old Labrador Retriever. He is a big boy, friendly and affectionate with everyone including other dogs, and kids of all ages. He is a very handsome pup who looks almost pure Labrador and has the personality and temperament to match which makes him an ideal choice for a family pet.

Here is what Bud's foster family had to say about him:

Bud is extremely affectionate. You can tell he is really trying to please. He is starting to follow basic commands(sit, off, down, etc). He is really coming along well with his house training as well. He looks for direction while on leash but does tend to pull a little. All of the above will come in time. He is intelligent and I feel that given time and patience, he will be a wonderful addition to a family.

Buddy is extremely social and friendly with dogs, adults, and children. He instantly recognizes children and is eager and excited to play with them. He plays well with other dogs and shows no aggression or dominance towards other dogs. He is not shy with anyone, and although he had not seen a cat before he greets them with a friendly attitude and a wagging tail. He is very respectful of my own dogs and would do well as a second dog in the home.

I have had him in the crate on and off. His barking has come to a minimum and he is quick to be quiet with correction. He whined for approximately 10 seconds the first night he was put in the crate but now he goes in easily and I do not hear him all night. He is also clean in his crate.

No fear of noises noticed at this point. He is afraid to attempt stairs. That works fine for me, but may need to be worked on depending on his permanent home. (This usually only takes a moment to help them up the first time and after that they pretty much figure it out)

He does seem to be well behaved around children. I have two daughters ages 10 and 6 and he does not jump up on them.

I think my biggest concern is that a potential adopter be aware that he is still a puppy that needs supervision and a good amount of exercise or like any puppy he could easily get himself in trouble. His new family should definitely continue with his crating until he can be fully trusted to be alone in the home. He hasn’t taken anything from the table or counter but wouldn’t hold it past him.

He also likes water. I know this because he has jumped in my pool! It is closed for the winter but there is a good amount of water on the cover. I called him and he came right out. I hope he enjoyed his very cold bath!

He has to get a very good home because we all love him already!
