My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~~~UPDATE~~~ 12/18/11
Bruce has come alive and his personality is shining! He is very attentive to me and watches closely where I go and what I am doing. He is becoming more and more confident with each day but still has random incidents where he gets scared. Loud noises, different noises, shouting, strange surroundings etc will send him scurrying for cover. Poor boy has been thru so much, can you blame him?? All of his wounds are healing nicely and he is packing on the pounds! ((just in time for the Holidays!!)) His coat is all shiny and no ribs are showing.. he is a whopping 47lbs! He came to us at 34lbs so he is making great improvements. Email karla@awolrescue for your application today!
Meet Bruce. We pulled him out of a local shelter as a 'bait dog' that no one wanted. He was due to die 11/23/11. When I got Bruce he was a mere 34lbs. Skin and bones, bite marks ALL OVER HIM. I stopped counting at 52. And that was JUST the unhealed ones, NOT the previous scars. This guy has been through hell and back. And know what??? HE STILL LOVES PEOPLE AND OTHER DOGS!!! Go FIGURE! Bruce has physical and emotional scars. The physical ones are healing much quicker than the emotional ones. Physically he is doing great. Has gained over 10lbs in 3 short weeks. He can walk and has JUST this weekend began to run and play! VERY exciting!! But emotionally he is still behind. He has made great progress and is turning around. He is learning to trust (something I am sure is VERY new to him) He will come to me now instead of cowering just out of reach. He now confidently trots beside me on lead, instead of walking head down, tail down and eyes lowered. He lifts his head, looks around at the world and is wagging his tail. That may not sound like much, but believe me, it is a vast improvement! Bruce needs love, attention and a HOME for the holidays. He WANTS to be with people.. he WANTS to be loved and petted. All he needs is a family of his own to speed up his recovery to the awesome boy I know he is! He is very loving and attentive once you earn his trust! Email karla@awolrescue.org to make this lonely boy happy for Christmas!
