Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Howdy y’all! We’re Thelma and Louise! That’s right, just like those two ladies in the movie!
I’m Thelma, the lovely and classic tri-color. And my dear friend, Louise (pictured below), is the red and white beauty! We’re not up for disclosing our ages…but AZBHR guesses we’re probably around 8 or 9 years young! We’re considered a bonded pair because we are absolutely the best of friends and our foster mom says we are just the sweetest pair of bassets any human could ever want or have!
We high-tailed it here from Abilene, Texas after AZBHR got word there was no room in the shelters for us there. We tried hitchin’ a ride in a green, 1966 Thunderbird convertible but that didn’t pan out, so a kind trucker agreed to hoist us up into his big rig and make the haul to get us where we needed to be…Arizona! What a ride that was and wow, we sure are glad it’s over!
We’ve got a great foster family we are staying with…there’s Mom, Dad, our four-legged (dog) brothers and sisters, some sneaky things called cats and some VERY LOUD things they call parrots! No worries though, we get along well with the whole family! We behave ourselves really well…we don’t bark too much, we ride in the car well, I love long walks (but Louise tires easily), we sleep in our crates (sometimes we even sleep in one BIG one together!), we love to be pet and get tummy rubs and I especially like to lay next to the couch to be nice and close to my foster parents when they are watching TV. We don’t know anything about this thing called a “doggie door”…it sounds interesting, but we prefer to wait until our foster mom lets us out to go potty, ‘cause that’s what ladies do!
AZBHR took us to the doctors and found out we had some nasty ear infections. We’re being treated for those now and I’m looking forward to being spayed soon. Unfortunately, our trip to the doctor brought us some bad news…Louise was diagnosed with cancer. I’m not sure what I’ll ever do without Louise, so I’d really like to find a home soon…my perfect, forever home would be one that has other dogs so I can start bonding with them now!
UPDATE: 4/19/07- Louise died today in the loving arms of her foster family.
