Daka's Story...
Daka is an 11-year-old Trakehner-Arabian former broodmare. She is the dam of the graying out yearling we just placed. She is about 15.2 hands high and a really beautiful mover. She is blind in her right eye but there's only a smidge of cloudiness and it doesn't seem to bother her at all, nor do we feel it will cause any difficulties in a future show career as she's very well-adjusted and trusting. She is pretty easy to handle but we are told has not been broke to ride, however she is very used to people and being handled so it shouldn't be difficult, and we'd like to get her a home as a show or riding horse rather than just being a broodmare. She is a little underweight right now but in otherwise good health and ready to meet potential adopters. Her adoption fee is $800.

Adopters must be 21 or older, if you are under 18, please have a parent contact us as our adoption agreement is a legal agreement which must be made with an adult. We do welcome volunteers of any age, those under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information visit our website at http://www.s-h-a-r-e.net to review our Adoption Requirements or fill out an Application.

About Our Rescue Group...
About Us

Our mission is to maintain the integrity, well-being, and health of hooved animals through education first.

SHARE is a nonprofit humane society established in 2005 in the Champaign area. We have investigators that cover a large portion of Illinois.

At SHARE, our goal is to help equines trapped in situations of abuse and starvation. It is also our wish as well to educate horse owners on how to properly care for their horses.

The humane society offers to help educate owners on the proper daily care and maintenance; vetting and hoof care as well as nutrition and emergencies. The society also rescues severely neglected horses and provides rehabilitation services and placement through adoption.

This is not an easy task; many volunteers are needed in order to provide this care and support. There are many people who are not aware of hooved animals that are abused and neglected. SHARE would like to inform people about this

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Daka, a Dewey Trakhener/Arabian was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Trakhener/Arabian for sale in Dewey, or seeking a Trakhener/Arabian from a breeder in Dewey.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Dewey already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Dewey breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Trakhener/Arabian breeders who help with Trakhener/Arabian rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Dewey paves the way for another one to be saved.
