Jack's Story...
I'm a male Beagle/Rat Terrier mix born approximately 4/05. I am up to date on shots, neutered, weigh approximately 20 lbs. and completed heartworm treatment 11/31/06. I'm an energetic fellow who will require a secure fenced yard to run and play in. I seem to be housebroken and am very smart and learn things very quickly. I like other dogs, but all depending on their personality, I can be a little alpha with some. Let's just say I like to pick and choose my friends. (Speaking of friends, I do not wish to make friends with any cat-I only like to chase them). I love people but sometimes come off the wrong way (barking like most dogs do) when you first arrive at my house to visit. That all calms down when you pay attention to me. I love to play fetch or any other game you wish to play with me. Most of all, I love to be with my people. I only have one request, please don't let the other furbabies mess with me while I am eating - I obviously had to scrap for my food while roaming the streets previously and am just getting used to the fact that the food will always be there now. I would not be good in a home with children under the age of about 9 since I can get overly excited.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jack, a Baton Rouge Beagle/Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle/Rat Terrier for sale in Baton Rouge, or seeking a Beagle/Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Baton Rouge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Baton Rouge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Baton Rouge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle/Rat Terrier breeders who help with Beagle/Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Baton Rouge paves the way for another one to be saved.
