Onyx's Story...
This is one gorgeous boy, about a year old and 60 lbs. of a friendly, lovable dog. He has a silky, wavy shiny black coat with a splash of white on his chest. He's attentive and playful, likes the company of other dogs and seems to be tolerant of cats. He loves to go for walks and would make a good jogging companion. Overall, he is well-behaved with a nice, moderate energy level. And he even does well at the vet's office and was such a good boy for his bath, too. He is coming along with his housetraining, but is not perfect yet. Although he is an excellent choice for a family dog, please- no young children, as he is too big for little ones and would knock them over easily while playing. Onyx has a lot of love to give to some lucky family...will it be with yours?

If you can give Onyx a permanent home, please fill out an application at our site: www.PeisandStrays.com. He is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Onyx, a Newport Golden Retriever/Flat-Coated Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever/Flat-Coated Retriever for sale in Newport, or seeking a Golden Retriever/Flat-Coated Retriever dog from a breeder in Newport.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Newport already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Newport breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever/Flat-Coated Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever/Flat-Coated Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Newport paves the way for another one to be saved.
