Sammy's Story...
NOTE: This fur kid is in our SENIOR FUR EVER AND ALWAYS program.
Our program is patterned after Love A Golden's Senior Life Program.

You may adopt another appropriate senior (10 years & older) fur-kid from us after this fur-kid passes to the Rainbow Bridge, becoming an Angel Dog.

--------------------------------

03-29-07 Sammy is a 10 yr. old owner surrender, his human died, the family was unable to care for him any longer. He is red, short hair, 23 lbs., arrived with complete vet records. He will need to see our vet for a review of his records, check-up, microchip. We already know Doc will stress a diet & exercise plan of less food, more walking. Sammy is a bit of a chub! But a loveable little chub indeed.

Sammy loved to sleep under the covers with his guardian. He rides very well in the vehicle, walks great on the leash. He arrived with his own dog bed, toys, food, treats & blanket. The bed, blanket, toys will accompany him to his fur-ever home. Sammy is ready for a home of his own.
We were told that Sammy does not like cats but after exposure to our resident feline....well take a look at his picture!! Does this look like a confirmed cat hater to you???

03-30 A pic is worth a thousand words. Within just a short time, the cat hater Sammy was sharing the bed with the dreaded cat, T.C. Cat Manners 101 has been successful. We would still recommend supervision with a cat, yet he can & will co-exist with a feline.

As expected it took Sammy a while to settle in & go to sleep. He whined for quite some time, even though he was on his very own little dog bed from his previous home. Finally, sleep overtook him, he slept quietly all night.
Out first thing in the AM, he will adapt in time.
We are verifying his house manners. At this he is a bit nervous, his life in upheaval. We expect an accident or two.

Sammy took a long road trip, helping transport some kennel pups & one senior shelter dog to other rescues. He first went to the vet where he was microchipped, nails trimmed. Sammy evidently has not had a pleasant experience with his vet work or nail trims. He was a challenge, yet left with a manicure.

He is excellent in the vehicle, obeys "Stay" & loves to get out, stretch his legs when invited to do so.
Sammy is a built in car alarm system that will NEVER fail. He guards the vehicle from all outsiders, including the driver. Teeth bared, growling, he makes a fearsome sight at the window. He's all show, no go! "Get over, Sammy" & he abandons his mission, relenting to allow the driver to enter.

We believe Sammy would make an excellent companion for a person living alone. He will bark an alert, scare off any burglar. His tails wags the entire time he is barking ferociously.

We also believe Sammy would make a wonderful companion for your exercise program. He needs walking & sensible eating, cut back on treats until he has his slim, trim figure again.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sammy, a Cole Camp Dachshund/Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Dachshund for sale in Cole Camp, or seeking a Dachshund/Dachshund dog from a breeder in Cole Camp.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cole Camp already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cole Camp breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund/Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cole Camp paves the way for another one to be saved.
