My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buddy & Cooper are in rescue because their beloved daddy is off to spend the next 4 yrs in Japan. He wanted to take his dogs with him but the rules said "no dogs on base"

Four year old Red Cooper is a real German dachshund. That's right –he was born in Germany and came here as a puppy. He has the most adorable face so we can’t resist cuddling him whenever we pass by him. He is the older of the two dogs and is both smart and sweet. He doesn't just whine or scratch at a closed door- he jumps up to try and use the handle! If you have levers rather than door knobs, we expect Cooper will be able to open the doors for himself. Cooper loves everyone and he also loves snuggling under the covers.

Three year old Piebald Buddy is younger and having never lived alone, he is very dependent on his friend Cooper and doesn't like to be separated from him. We are working on developing his independence but our foster home is so overcrowded there is not much time for separate walks, etc. However, the recent addition of a pack of young playful dogs has intrigued Buddy and he is starting to hang out with some of the other dogs while Cooper is cuddling in the bedroom. Like Cooper, Buddy is a very friendly dog but he does not yet have Cooper's self confidence.

These two boys have been great with all the other dogs and they are even cat safe! They sleep in the same kennel at night. The only quirk is crying if you leave by the front door (going out through the garage is fine with them).

If you are interested in Cooper & Buddy, , please fill out an adoption application at www.scdr.org .and email Lindy at linla@comcast.net.

The tax deductible donation for the pair is $350.
