Myia's Info...

I am in need of an experienced adopter.

Myia's Story...
Myia is a healthy 17 year Old Congo African Grey. We do not know the exact sex since it was not DNA sexed, however, we are assuming that it is a male.

Myia has been handled by people since he was a chick. He is a custom to being part of a family and is a lot of fun and very entertaining. He is trained to step up on pole to come in and out of cage. He likes to dance on the top of his cage by hanging upside down and moving to the beat of music. He has never plucked one feather or destroyed any items other than his toys. Myia is also use to dogs which is good but can also be bad because he is not scared of them at all.

Myia is a typical Parrot and has a large vocabulary. He is very interactive with his verbal sounds. He calls individual names and says phrases like: “go to bed!” . He also loves to whistle and makes up his own tunes. He whistles the ESPN theme and makes siren and back up truck noises. He barks like a dog and makes a cute little chirping baby bird sound in the evening.

Myia is a wonderful companion and his owner was very sad about having to re-home him, but due to being busy with a new baby, she thought it will be best for Myia to be with someone who has more time for him. He deserves to have more interaction and lots of play time outside the cage.

Adoption fee is $350. It includes Myia's large size metal cage.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Myia, a Austin African Grey was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a African Grey for sale in Austin, or seeking a African Grey from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even African Grey breeders who help with African Grey rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
