Tammy's Story...
Tammy is a delightful, healthy, affectionate and gentle 3-year-old, 23lb, Shih-Tzu who is losing her home due to the ill health of her very elderly owners. They are unable to walk Tammy or otherwise care for her. Tammy loves to cuddle, is paper trained (though is easily housebroken if walked outside) and spayed. Tammy is friendly around other pets and has a lovely dispostion. Because she has been with elderly people since a puppy, we feel she is best suited for an adult home, though Tammy is generally friendly towards everyone. If interested in Tammy, you MUST call us, not email. Please have committed dog experience and a checkable vet referance. (212) 427-8273. Tammy is a total love.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tammy, a New York Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in New York, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in New York.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New York already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New York breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New York paves the way for another one to be saved.
