My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

* * * ADOPTED! * * *
Mia is a very special little Beagle girl. She was found running loose in an industrial park in NJ and had to be trapped in order to be captured. It remains a mystery as to where she originally came from, but she was probably dumped there.

Since joining Safe Hounds, Mia has made slow but steady progress but she is still very shy. However, in an understanding and supportive environment we believe she will continue to make progress. We feel if the "right" home could be found, Mia would be ready to continue on her journey.

Mia is a tiny 2 year old Beagle weighing only 14 pounds (full grown). She has been spayed, is current on all her shots, heartworm negative (on preventative), and microchipped.

Mia is an energetic and playful young Beagle. She would be best suited to a quiet home without children or other pets. She is very easily frightened and needs people with patience, commitment and a lot of time to devote to her, preferably with experience socializing and rehabilitating dogs. Cute as she may be, Mia would not a suitable for someone without considerable dog experience or someone with a busy lifestyle. She is slow to trust people and is still very timid. Mia is not yet 100% housetrained but we continue to work on it in her foster home. She sometimes has "accidents" when she is frightened or very excited. As she gains more self confidence she will likely overcome this. If you feel you have the love to give and desire to make a difference in a little dog's life please contact us.

If you are unable to adopt at this time, please consider helping us so that we can continue to help them. We have dogs with medical needs and lots of hungry Beagles to feed. We are always in need of dog food and other items from our wish list as well as financial support to help us care for our dogs.
