My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

THERE IS ALWAYS A LESSON OF LOVE TO LEARN FROM ALL ANIMALS!!! These words have never rung more true than they do for Precious. Precious has every reason in the world to shun humans, the cruel world, the disappointment of those who have failed her, the tragic loss of life that has surrounded her, but that is NOT how Precious rolls. Precious is one of the special ones, like so many we know. Precious has been dealt a really lousy hand in the game of life, and yet, Precious refuses to be beaten down, refuses to have a bad day. Precious really refuses not to smile. Precious greets each day with love and forgiveness in her heart, a smile on her face and as many licks as the human face will allow. Precious has a past that would more than deflate most of us. In October 2009, Precious found herself as a pregnant teenager in the Kern County shelter. Her sweet nature and charm had the shelter staff and volunteers begging for her life. Precious gave birth in the shelter to 12 pups in the wee hours one cold October morning. The rescue community succeeded in getting Precious and her family to safety. Sadly, Precious puppies were not healthy, and all but three of them died. Precious struggled along with a brave face and a heavy heart as she buried nine of her twelve babies. Soon the remaining three puppies were adopted into loving families, leaving Precious all alone, wanting a forever family to call her own. Finally, Precious thought that her day had come. A family chose her! She went home with a mom, dad and three kids. Precious was elated; she adores kids and was so happy to have a family of her own. A few months later, one of her family members became ill and they decided Precious was too much of a burden to the family. Precious was dumped at a boarding facility, without ever so much as a look back. Precious was devastated but she kept her positive, happy-go-lucky-attitude, keeping it all in stride, as she had never known too many humans that she could count on. Precious was just a ghost in the boarding facility, where she became one of the forgotten ones. No one came to visit or walk her. Her heart was beating, but she was not really alive. Precious previous rescue group had abandoned her and disowned her. She was again completely alone. When the volunteers of Take Me Home heard that she was just rotting away, we could not sit back and leave her to slowly die in boarding facility. True to the spirit of the fierce women of Take Me Home, we jumped into action, sprung Precious from the depressing boarding facility and gave her the gift of freedom and an amazing training program that would give her the skills of the perfect canine citizen. Precious has been the STAR of her training program for many months, but Precious is still a homeless animal with NO FAMILY. Precious is growing weary from her plight of homelessness, though she hides it well behind her soulful, amber colored eyes and happy demeanor. Precious needs a home of her own, a family to curl up with each night, a child to frolic with in the yard, a human family who will let her teach them about LOVE. Precious has SO MUCH love to give, so much heart to share, so much life to live, so many lessons to teach. Wont you be her student? You will be blessed with a lifetime of jolly good fun, more kisses than you can count and true love like you have never known. ALL of this and more, from a gorgeous chocolate brown princess we adoringly call Precious!
