Hank the Tank's Story...
Age: 10 weeks
Breed: Chihuahua

Weight: 2.5 lbs
Gender: Male

Hank the Tank is a lively, curious puppy....small in stature but large on personality! Full of energy but loves to snuggle as well.
Hank is great with the other Chihuahua in his foster home. Hank loves to play, chew, chase and wrestle. He is pretty good with the cat in his foster home too...loves to chase her but he is learning not to...so would be ok with a confident cat.

Potty training is going really well. He does run to the door when he needs to go out. He is a good watch dog too!

When his foster mom is at work he is baby gated in the bathroom, where he only pees on the pee pad in there.  He sleeps in the crate (on my bed) at night.  His foster mom has left him loose in the house a few times for shorter periods of time and he has done well-- no accidents or chewed up stuff.

Hank came into the group after being taken to the shelter for having a large bone lodged in his throat.  His owners were unable to pay for treatment to remove the bone, but the shelter's resources were able to get the bone removed with no permanent damage.  This little piggy will need supervision from here on out to prevent him getting into trouble in the future. Hank loves to play fetch and tug of war with toys...once he's worn out he relaxes next to his foster mom on the couch. Very sweet, loving soul.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hank the Tank, a Austin Chihuahua puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Austin, or seeking a Chihuahua puppy from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
