Sam's Story...
Meet Sam! He is a gorgeous pure bred golden retriever that is about 4 years old. He found himself at a Virginia shelter because he and his "dad" were not getting along so we guess the family thought this was the only option. However, AGK came to their rescue. Sam is house trained, crate trained and is one heck of a ball chaser - it is his favorite thing to do!! He would be best in a home with a female dogs or no dogs at all - we are thinking he needs to be king! (But loves attention from the ladies) If you are interested in adopting Sam, please visit our website at www.adoptagoldenknoxville.org.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sam, a Roanoke Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Roanoke, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Roanoke.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Roanoke already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Roanoke breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Roanoke paves the way for another one to be saved.
