My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ON MEDICAL HOLD
Shaunie is a 3 1/2 month old merle male with natural ears. He is a friendly, outgoing and confident puppy that came to us from his owner. He has a bouncy personality, so he may be too active for the elderly or a home with small children. He adapts well to new situations and is friendly when meeting strangers. Shaunie will need a dog savvy owner as his confidence can change to a quest for leadership with an inexperienced handler. He is not showing any indication of resource/food/toy guarding behaviors however he does eat his food frantically so again, experienced handler for this pup so he doesn't learn undesirable behaviors inadvertently. He does show dominant behavior with young dogs. He will not be placed with another puppy as this dominant behavior will escalate as they mature. I recommend that Shaunie be placed in a home with a confident and sound tempered adult female to keep him in line. He plays well with and respects mature dogs. As long as Shaunie is placed with an experienced handler in the proper environment, his confident, fun loving personality is going to blossom into an easy going, wonderful and loyal companion. If he is placed in the wrong environment with an inexperienced handler, the potential for problems is high. Training will be a requirement of his adoption.
