Hi there!!
My name is Bear, but everyone loves me so much, they say my name twice…..”Bear-Bear!!”
I came to BratPack almost a year ago with bad allergies. I itched like CRAZY and my previous owners didn’t know what else to do to help me, so they called BratPack. And boy oh boy am I ever glad they did. I’ve been to see a ton of Dr’s to find out what’s wrong with me. I’ve had test after test after test done. We found out that I’m allergic to quite a few things……a bunch of trees and weeds mostly. But one thing that seems to REALLY bother me…….CATS!! I can’t go anywhere near a cat or I’ll get all itchy again!! Some other things make me itchy, too. Like my foster mom just brought home a new foster brother and he smelled like perfume, that made me all itchy, too…..I’m feeling a lot better now that they gave him a bath.
But BratPack knew there was more wrong than just allergies. Even when I stayed away from everything the allergy test told me I’m allergic to, I still got all itchy. Mostly my eyes and mouth and paws. So they did more tests, and even a biopsy. Holy Cow!! That’s wasn’t much fun. But I’m super glad they did. Cause we think we know what’s wrong. I have something called immune-mediated vasculitis disease. Now, I know the word disease sounds scary, I sure thought so, too. But after finding out the treatment, it’s not soo scary. I have to take a pill each morning and night. And then I take another pill every other night – but if I have an itchy-attack (like my smelly foster brother), I have to take that pill every night until I feel better. The only down side is that I’ll have to go have my blood checked every 6 months just to make sure everything’s OK because one of the pills is a steroid.
I’m a big guy, about 25lbs. I certainly stand up to my name BEAR-BEAR!! But really, I’m just a cuddly Teddy Bear. I love sitting on my people’s lap, I love giving kisses, I love my belly rubbed and will do the Bichon Wave if you stop before I want you to, and I LOVE sleeping up on my people’s bed. I like other dogs around to play with, and I do like kids……but I’m kind of strong, so maybe I’ll be better with older kids, not little kids. But I think the best home of all would be with a fur-ever mom and dad that can spoil me rotten for the rest of my life!! (o:
So, if you think your home would be the perfect Fur-Ever home and you’d like to adopt me and take care of me even though I’m not perfect like the rest of the dogs……make sure you ask for BEAR-BEAR!!
