I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, and not good with kids.
Veteran, AKA Bailey, is ready for his forever home. He knows stairs, gets along with both dogs and cats, comes in when called and is beginning to enjoy laps. Good things come in small packages. Veteran is a small Cairn that looks like a young Scottie. He has a soft silver undercoat, then a black, grey and red overcoat. Very timid when he got to his foster home( it was his first time inside a home) he has relaxed enough to show us his terrier self. He's a 'talker'. After mornings outdoors we sit on the floor in front of a heater to warm up and he will climb into our laps, paw for attention, then give little grunts and moans of pleasure as we rub his neck. He is missing his 4 front teeth-2 upper and 2 bottom-and will gum you while playing gentle 'chase the fingers across the floor' games. Veteran is very sensitive to voice corrections and wants to please. He is the opposite of food possessive with people and often has to be encouraged to start eating with words and pets. Once started, he has a great appetite and will finish his food. Veteran comes running when called in and then circles back for his 'good boy' pets and praise. He stays with the cat in the living room at night with the crate door open with no accidents or chewed items. He is not a chewer. He is gentle about taking treats from hands. Just a real nice dog. Veteran needs someone to be his forever people and show him their world. Will you be his guide and cheerleader? You will get a wonderful buddy in return. Rescue Group Info...
We are NOT A SHELTER with a single physical location. Instead, we are a national network of volunteers working to help re-home Cairns in need.
We began as a small internet community of people trying to help one of their members through the heartache of losing a little Cairn named Col. Potter. In the weeks that followed that simple process of showing care and support, a national Cairn terrier rescue was born. It filled a void to serve a wonderful, randomly protected, and sometimes misunderstood breed. Cairns can have every kind of personality, from laid back to intensely lively; most fall somewhere in between.
Our rescue attracts caring foster homes who will provide guidance and love; sometimes for the first time in a rescued Cairn's life. Our foster homes also provide an honest, realistic evaluation of each Cairn's personality, so an approved applicant can expect to be matched with a Cairn whose traits and behaviors fit their lifestyle.
At present, Col. Potter has just under 200 foster homes all over the United States.
