About Heaven Can Wait

About Our Rescue Group...

Heaven Can Wait is a non-profit, 501(c)3, all volunteer, rescue group located in Akron, Ohio. We rescue dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens from the high-kill Summit County Animal Control Facility (also known as the pound), most on the day they are going to be euthanized. Heaven Can Wait is the ONLY rescue group that ONLY rescues from the Summit County Animal Control Facility. We devote our rescuing to the most destitute, who have no chance of living beyond the day they are going to be euthanized. While Heaven Can Wait cannot save all the animals from certain death at the pound, we try to make a difference, one animal at a time.

We do not "re-home" pets from private individuals ... we RESCUE animals from DEATH at the pound!

The rescued dogs are examined by a Veterinarian, heartworm tested, spayed or neutered, vaccinated for Rabies, vaccinated for canine distemper, canine hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus and adenovirus type 2, started on heartworm prevention medication, worm treatment and flea treatment.

Rescued cats are examined by a Veterinarian, tested for Feline Leukimia/FIV, spayed or neutered, vaccinated for Leukemia, vaccinated for feline rhinotracheitis, calici virus, panleukopenia and chlamydia, worm treatment and flea treatment.

ALL rescued animals are quarantined for 14 days to monitor it's health. No animal will be available until after the quarantine period.

When a rescued animal is sick, Heaven Can Wait provides Veterinary care and any medicine or treatment necessary to bring it back to optimal health. Many times, this has required surgery and/or hospitalization.

Heaven Can Wait has all volunteers. Your tax-deductible donations make it possible for Heaven Can Wait to rescue animals from death at the pound and get them the necessary Veterinary care. Please consider donating today.

Each and every rescued pet is fostered in a loving environment until it is permanently placed in it's forever home.
