Bruce is a large polydactyl (extra toes on his front paws) cat. He’s a mutt, but probably has some Maine Coon in him because of his size and the tuffs on his ears. Due to his bullying of other cats, he has earned his own isolated room and the nickname Bruce the Brute.
He’s a charming, manly fellow who is active and loves human attention, but he gives hard “love bites” and will play rough, so he cannot go to a home with children. With a home environment, stimulation, and training this behavior can be corrected. He responds well to the word “NO,” which is a good start.

Blistered Whiskers Inc., is a no-kill, non-profit, street kitten rescue and foster care provider located in NW Peoria. Our mission is two-fold. First Blistered Whiskers is dedicated to helping stray, free-roaming, homeless kittens in Maricopa County by providing the necessary resources to assist with feeding, shelter, spay/neuter, medical care and adoption into their forever home. Secondly, acting as their advocate, Blistered Whiskers strives to improve their lives and promote ideas that are more reflective of a caring and humane community.
Currently, we have a partnership with Petsmart at Lake Pleasant Parkway and Happy Valley Road, Peoria AZ.
We have several of our best little kitties up for adoption shacking up at this location. So swing by and adopt one...or two...or more! :) If you don't meet your best little friend there, shoot us an email at blisteredwhiskers@gmail.com and we can arrange a time for you to come to the shelter to meet some other deserving kitties! :)
Cats, like people, have different personalities. An adoption volunteer will assist you in selecting the purrfect match for you and your home. All cats and kittens are current on vaccinations. All cats and kittens are spayed or neutered before they are placed for adoption.
Our adoption policy is as follows:
An application must be accurately completed and submitted for review.
Upon adoption, a contract will be signed.
The cat may not be declawed.
The cat must be indoor only.
Our policies and procedures are for the purpose of placing the cat in a compatible, loving and permanent home.
A donation of $120 for one kitten or $60 for an adult cat is asked to help offset veterinary expenses.
