My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Good Morning, Afternoon & Evening!

Good Morning, Afternoon & Evening!

Thanks so much for stopping by my page, I really appreciate you stopping by! Let me tell you a bit about myself so that we can get to know each other better.

My name is Kia and I am a one year old female Chihuahua who is looking for a loving home to call my own. My family sadly lost their family business and their home due to the tough economic conditions in our state and could no longer afford to care for me and my brothers. They contacted NBS Animal Rescue to help give us a chance at a wonderful future with a loving family and my brothers and I were placed in a wonderful foster home who takes very good care of us. It was really hard leaving my old family, and I was really scared and nervous in my new foster home for the first week - but I quickly realized that the NBS volunteers are such kind, gentle, and loving people that I could trust them and come out and relax in my new home. Since then, I'm a happy little girl who is learning to trust and feel confident in new situations, I wasn't really well socialized in my old home, so I'm trying really hard to gain some self confidence.

My foster mom says that I am crate trained, potty trained as long as you help me find my way to the door on a regular schedule, and am a really great snuggler. I'm a bit underweight because my brother ate all of the food that we were given - I'm a lover night a fighter and I didn't stand up for myself so I'm a bit skinny right now. My foster family gives me the most delicious food and they make sure that I get my fair share and don't have to compete with my brother for my nutrients. The vet gave me a clean bill of health, I've been spayed so I can't have any babies, have all of my vaccines, have been dewormed, am Heartworm negative, and am microchipped. I'm ready to find a quiet, calm, loving home with a new family who will be patient, kind, loving, and understanding as I learn how to trust and love again.

My foster dad says that I'm OK with other dogs, cat's don't really intrigue me at all, and although I wouldn't hurt a kid at all, I really need a home that doesn't have any small kids as I'm a bit nervous around quick movements and loud noises until I become totally comfortable in a new environment. I would love to be in a home where my foster mom or dad was home most of the day or evening to love on me, I'll sit on your lap and snuggle all day long - I promise! When I'm really comfortable with you I love to give kisses, I'm really a sweet and loving little girl who just needs someone to take their time and help me feel comfortable. I may be a bit shy at first, but I am NOT a nippy, or fearful biter of a dog! I don't growl or show any aggression towards new people or dogs, I just kinda cower a bit and tuck my tail between my legs until I know that you won't hurt me. My foster mom says that once I feel comfortable in my surroundings I'm so much fun to play with! I like to chase my foster sister, a lab mix, around the dining room table, play tug of war with my foster sister, and run in the fenced backyard. I'm really a sweet little girl who just needs a loving family - could it be with you?
