Holly's Story...
This six-month-old girl is sweet and playful but her energy level at the shelter, where she cannot get out and play every day, is through the roof. So when Holly does come out of her crate she is jumping and running and spinning and then jumping some more. Finally, like an every-ready bunny with run-down batteries, Holly lopes over to the handlers and curls into the nearest lap as if she plans to never leave. When not being a lap dog or making the handlers dizzy with her antics, Holly loves to play with the toys and is working well on her obedience. She knows the sit command and as she loves petting and praise she is always keen to please her handlers. Holly would prefer to be an only dog as she wants to be able to focus all her adoration onto her people and isn’t keen on canine competition for attention
Please call the shelter 516-944-8220 during working hours (Mon. to Fri. 9AM-4PM; Sat. 10-4PM) for more information about Holly, the adoption process at the shelter, and to confirm availability. Please go to www.theshelterconnection.com for more information about and directions to the shelter.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Holly, a Port Washington American Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Port Washington, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Port Washington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Port Washington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Port Washington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Port Washington paves the way for another one to be saved.
