For all you old timers like me, do you remember the children’s book “Clifford the Big Red Dog”? Maggie Mae is the feathered version of Clifford. For those not familiar with the book, Clifford was a very large red dog that was sweet, gentle and lovable in spite of his size. That pretty much describes Maggie. She’s a DNA sexed female greenwing macaw who just celebrated her 12th hatch day. She is a cuddle bug with a typical macaw sense of humor. She loves to dance and says a few words such as “step up”, “Maggie” and “come here”. So far I’m not sure what her favorite pastime is, cuddling while watching TV or stealing pine nuts off the end table. She did start plucking a few months ago when her family divorced, but she is already re-growing many feathers. For anyone considering a large macaw, Maggie Mae is about a sweet and gentle as they come. Please consider giving this sweetheart a forever home.
