My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shelby is a 7 1/2 year old (DOB 6/04) blue female with cropped ears that fold over the top of her head. She is very sweet, loving, and extremely well behaved girl. She gets along with both small and large dogs and she is great with children of all ages. Shelby can be playful and loves to get silly with her foster doggy sisters but will quiet immediately when playtime is over. She is still not sure what to do with toys and is cautious when picking them up or out of the toy box. Once she knows it’s “allowed”, she will proudly carry the toy around with her but happily shares it with others. Shelby knows commands like heel, sit, down, stay, and surprised us by sitting up and begging for a treat. She is a bit of a shadow and will follow you thru every room of the house unless you tell her to stay. She loves her soft bed and will happily snooze for hours at a time. She is house trained and is also crate trained but behaves well when left loose in the house. Most likely, you will find her on her bed, right where she was when you left her. Shelby loves to go for walks and behaves very well on a leash. She enjoys walking ahead to check things out, constantly circling back to make sure you are okay. She is a beautiful blue color and everyone loves her crazy ears - they fall down to the sides when she is very relaxed and cross over each other on top of her head when she is alert. Shelby could stand to gain a few more pounds and loves to eat but has no food aggression towards people or other dogs. She also loves water and thinks ice cubes are the best treats in the whole world. Bonus: Shelby has “dry lips”, meaning she hardly slobbers – a rare and wonderful treat for a Dane’s owner. Shelby is just a joy to have in our home. If you are looking for a mellow, sweet companion who will play when you feel like playing, but will also be perfectly happy lazing around at your feet… Shelby’s your girl.
