My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ace is a handsome young dog that is approximately a year and a half old.  He is a medium sized dog weighing just over 50 lbs.  Ace loves everyone and his foster says he is the poster dog for Man's Best Friend!  He has a reserved, laid back attitude about life and is loving and loyal.

Here is what else his foster family had to say about Ace:

Ace is extremely friendly and gentle.  He is the kindest dog we have ever met.

Ace has never showed any aggressive tendencies at all. I just don't think it is in his nature. You can put your face in his and he just wants to lick you. We have been on several walks and he only looks at other people and pets. He never lunges toward them or shys away. He just looks and moves on. If another dog approaches him, Ace will happily acknowledge the other dog with a hello sniff.

Ace has been crated at night and when we have gone out. In the beginning he did not want to go in the crate but will wait until you let him out to do his business in the back yard.

Ace is so sweet when I leave the room. He just gets up and follows to see what he might be missing. He does not suffer from separation anxiety at all. He is just curious and wants to be in the mix of the action.

Ace has not shown any fear of anything so far. He looks at cars or people passing by. He does not bark at them. His ears go up as if to say "Hey look at me".

Ace's favorite thing to do is play and be outside. I think he could play outside for hours if you had the stamina. Then he will come in and have a nap. He also wants to be in the company of anyone who make him the focus of their attention. He is as energetic as you are. If you feel like having a nap, he will lay at your feet and sleep too. If you are in the kitchen cooking, he is learning how to make spagetti. He has very good manners and listens well. Never grabbing at food or begging. Ace sheds a fair amount but with brushing it will be lessened. He has a very healthy coat. It is white and shiny. I just gave him a bath and he was great in the tub. He just stood there and let me shampoo him and rinse him. After that he was excited to smell like coconuts and ran around the house and rolled all over.

I have not heard him use his voice yet. He is silent but makes his wishes known with his animated actions. He is very funny. He seems to be in perfect health. I have no concerns at all. Ace is very well mannered at meal times. He waits patiently for his meal and eats it all when it is ready. He only eats what will fill him up. He does not wait for seconds or beg for more. Ace is very much a gentleman when it comes to his washroom habits. He waits until he is let out in the backyard to take care of his business. He does go to the door when he feels the urge. He has not gone to the washroom on walks, only in the backyard.

Ace can drop items (toys) when you ask him. We are working on other manners such as sit and down. He only stands up on you when he expects to play. He is a very good listener. If you say no, he listens and changes his behavior. He is fully house trained and goes to the door when he needs to do his business. In the car he prefers the back seat where he can see better. He is quiet and doesn't move around too much in the car. He is very patient in the car. Ace will walk well on a short leash. He does like to pull somewhat, as he is very curious about all the different scents. After a short while, and some prompting, he will remember to walk without pulling. He has perfect manners around food. He will lay at your feet if you let him while you eat dinner. He is very gentle taking treats from your hand. He does not grab at all. Ace has not tried to bolt out the door. He is wondering what is going on outside but not in a bothersome way.

Ace would love to adopt a family who can open their heart to a loving and well mannered companion. He would be great with small kids, other pets, young seniors who have time to walk him. He is a fantastic friend for life.
