Raven's Story...
Meet 9 month old Raven! Her foster momma has nicknamed her 'Raven Maniac' because she really, truly is a ball of energy...loving life and making the most of every single day. Raven involves herself in every household chore - from paving the way for the vacuum to come through, to 'helping' make the bed, to helping her foster mom put her make-up on in the morning - Raven is quite the helper! Nothin' gets Raven down these days - she is upbeat, curious and a ton of fun - truly the ultimate little cat!

In the spring of 2011, Raven was one of (6) 8-week-old kittens who were rescued from a kill-shelter - 7 months later, Raven is the last one of the bunch and has yet to find her forever family...not because of anything she did (cuz her personality far out shined the others'!) but because of her color - black. Did you know that black cats are overlooked by the majority of potential adopters just because of their color?

If you are looking to add a feline to your family, please, please give us a call to meet Raven - she will win your heart within the first few moments you meet her. Raven is truly an amazing girl!

If you'd like to learn more or meet Raven in purr-son please contact Cindy at 773.203.0215 or cindy@virtuallyhomechicago.org. You will be glad you did!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Raven, a Chicago Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
