Dr. Pepper's Story...
Comments from an SPCA employee:
Dr. Pepper was brought to us as a stray from the SPCA. He is very sweet and submissive. Likes to run and play at the fence line with Stuffing, the female lab. Also likes to play with Delilah, a female Basset Hound. Is interested in chasing frisbee and football but usually doesn't return them. Very strong on leash, so a prong collar would probably be necessary. Very playful, sweet and friendly. Likes to play tug of war with a towel. Seems very gentle. A people dog! Loves to be around people. Comes when you call him. Hasn't learned sit but seems highly trainable. Does jump up some, but with verbal prompts he'll stop. Goof ball behavior!! Seems ok with other dogs. He let me pull on his ears and tail with no signs of aggression.

Dr. Pepper has since moved in with 2 foster families. He lived with a dog at his first foster home, and his foster dad there absolutely LOVED Dr. Pepper. He said Dr. Pepper was the sweetest dog and had one of the best temperaments he'd ever seen.

Dr. Pepper's first foster dad moved back to Louisiana so he went to another foster home, this time with a large family with children, another pit, and a pug. He's doing wonderful there and the chidren love him.

Dr. Pepper is neutered, current on shots, and microchipped.

If you are interested in adopting this goofy, sweet boy, please send an email to PitbullRescue@PawPrintz.org and request an adoption application. A meeting with Dr. Pepper can be arranged after your application has been approved. There is a $150 adoption fee to help cover a portion of his medical expenses. A homecheck will also be required to help ensure that he goes to an environment suited to him.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dr. Pepper, a Bakersfield Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Bakersfield, or seeking a Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Bakersfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bakersfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bakersfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bakersfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
