My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Peanut is a COURTESY LISTING. He is located in Healdsburg, CA.

Peanut is about 2-3 years old and 65 lbs. He is cratetrained and housetrained, though he may need a refresher course in his new environment. Peanut is a survivor of Hurricane Katrina. He was stuck in a backyard treading through water up to his chest. When he was found, he was nothing more than some beat-up skin and a rack of bones. He was only 30 lbs when he arrived here! This poor guy had no clean water, food, or shelter. His rescuers believe he made it for as long as he did only by eating pieces of wood from the fence and debris.

Peanut is the class clown of dogs. Almost everything he does will bring a chuckle and a grin to your face. He is a clever dog and would benefit greatly from someone who is willing to challenge his mind. He will do just about anything for a treat that you hold in your hand. He has a sharp mind and picks up on new things all the time.

Peanut loves to wrestle and play hard. He loves to play fetch and loves an afternoon of chewing on a good bone and hanging in the sun. The right person(s) will have the time to work on teaching him new tricks to keep him occupied, take him for plenty of nice walks, and make sure his food dish is good and full.

Peanut plays with one dog (Samantha, our other Katrina rescue--Peanut is the only dog she tolerates) and hasn't had very much interaction with other dogs. He would probably do best only with females and without any small dogs or cats. Peanut would be fine with older children because his size and enthusiasm might knock down a small child.

If you are interested in adopting Peanut, please send an email to PitbullRescue@PawPrintz.org and request an adoption application. There is a $150 adoption fee to help cover a portion of his medical & transportation expenses. A homecheck will also be required to ensure he goes to an environment suited to hiim.
