Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Thunder is a fantastic, snugly sweet five-year-old lab mix looking for a loving family. He was rescued from a pound in Gary, Indiana where he had been found wandering the streets. He has an injury to one of his rear legs possibly from being hit by a car but this doesn't affect him one bit - stairs, running, you name it...he can do it and without hesitation. Thunder has poor vision but gets around just fine and even so, he loves to play fetch although hide-and-go-seek is probably his favorite game with humans. He is full of tail wags and kisses for the people he loves accepting anyone that he meets. He knows all the basic commands having completed an intensive obedience course and lies down automatically when offered dinner. While Thunder did very well with his obedience work, reinforcement would be necessary to keep that going.
Food and snacks are taken with extreme gentleness. He also enjoys the company of most other dogs and has learned to watch for smaller dogs so he can move out of their way. While he enjoys time outside to sniff and investigate, he's also perfectly happy lying at your feet while you work or watch TV. Truly, he just wants a human to be his buddy. He would make a fantastic addition to a family with kids aged ten and up as he is the perfect image of loyalty and devotion everyone has of a family companion.
Beanbag beds seem to be his favorite and he remains off all of his foster family's furniture. Thunder is looking for a quiet home where his family can keep him on a solid routine. He is good on a leash and rides beautifully in the car. He is crate-trained and quite relaxed in there overnight as well as a long workday. This is a very smart, low-maintenance boy once he understands your expectations. Thunder is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative. His adoption donation of $200 benefits the rescued dogs of Lucky Dog Rescue. To meet and possibly foster or adopt him, please contact Melia at melia88@comcast.net.
