Thunder *Blind*'s Info...
I am already neutered, a special needs pet, in need of an experienced adopter, and up to date with shots.
Thunder is a mellow, snugly sweet, five-year-old, 60-pound, male, glossy black and white Lab mix looking for a loving guardian. Poor Thunder is mostly blind! He was rescued from the pound in Gary, Indiana. He has a bump on his head, and an injury to one of his rear legs. It’s guessed that he was hit by a car. Thunder’s vision is very minimal. He is almost 100% blind in one eye but has minimal sight in the other. The eye specialist believes that he had distemper as a puppy that caused scarring to his corneas. She believes that has about 15% vision in one eye and about 6% vision in the other. Since he’s almost blind, it’s not surprising that he gets easily startled by someone sneaking up on him. But if you talk to him in a squeaky voice and give him a treat, he will let you do anything to him! He loves to play fetch. He will listen for the ball to bounce and go in that direction. He’s also quite the lap dog and loves to cuddle.
He is full of tail wags and kisses for the people he loves. He knows the command sit and does so automatically when he smells a treat or hears the crinkle of a treat bag. He is very food-motivated and takes treats gently. He also enjoys the company of other dogs although he might bump into them because of his vision issues. He’s looking for a quiet home where someone can keep him on a solid routine. He is good on leash and rides well in the car. He is crate-trained and housebroken when familiar with his surroundings.
Lucky Dog Rescue has spent thousands of dollars on his veterinary care. They’re looking for donations to help pay for this poor boy’s ongoing medical and boarding expenses. He is currently living at the vet until a foster or forever home can be found for him since a kennel environment would be too chaotic for him to adjust to. Thunder is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative. His adoption fee of $200 benefits rescued dogs. To meet and possibly foster or adopt him, please contact Melia at firstname.lastname@example.org. He is currently living in a boarding kennel near Chicago, IL and would love to get out of the kennel and into a loving home environment!
